WWE 205 Live 1/22/2021
Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2021/01/wwe-205-live-1152021.html
Women's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic - 1st Round: Gigi Dolin and Cora Jade vs Candice Lerae and Indi Hartwell
The finish |
This is the WWE debut of Jade and Dolin. Jade and Dolin hit pump kicks to Indi. Jade does a knee in the corner to Lerae and Indi distracts Jade so Lerae can nail her. Jade gets her head banged off the mat. Jade walks into a sidewalk slam by Indi.
Jade gets a euro uppercut on Lerae amd fights to tag in Gigi. Gigi kick combos Indi and pump kicks her in the face. Indi gets out of a 1v2 and does a delayed vertical on Gigi. Jade tries some roll ups on Lerae and Indi does some kind of blue thunder variation to win. This wasn't any good with the usual diva sloppiness and was certainly not a good debut for the new girls. Losing on your debut is never a good sign of things to come either.
Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic - 1st Round: Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher vs Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari
I hate feuding partner tag teams, especially when they beat other teams. Why would these two be teaming together after the fight pit and how do they even have the energy for it?
TT takes down Ariya on the mat. Ariya takes a bow and arrow submission. Ciampa wrestles around with Nese but nothing really happens then Ariya bangs Ciampa's legs off the post. Ariya figure fours Ciampa. Ciampa tries to get to his side and Neese drags Ariya with the figure four still on. TT comes in and belly to belly's his opponents. TT heel hooks Daivari and gets his neck draped over the top rope. Nese does an outside to in springboard moonsault and Ciampa breaks up the pin attempt.
TT finally gets the tag and Ciampa 2v1's his opponents with punches and chops. Ariya and Nese jump off the top and get caught with knees from both opponents, then Ciampa draping ddt's Nese to win it. TT and Ciampa stare down each other after. The 2nd part of the match was good.
Overall thoughts: 205 Live's limited in what they can do with only 30 minutes to work with, especially since they don't have a lot of storylines. I haven't really seen a must see episode yet in the 30 minute format and it's basically Main Event with cruiserweights.
